Who is, Luke Conger?
Early on in Luke’s career he was told by one of his mentors, “Life’s not about what you know, it’s who you know, and who knows you”. Taking that to heart, he has made it is goal to ensure he knows those around him and those around him know who he is.
Starting out his working career, Luke learned about the values of hard work, failure, trying new things and job well done through working on a cattle ranch in Northern Minnesota during his summers, and winter breaks. It was through working 100+ hour weeks, owning his mistakes and utilizing resources to ensure a job was finished and a deliverable was completed that helped instill the work ethic, integrity and character Luke has today.
After graduating college with a degree in Sports Medicine, and being discouraged by Orthopedic Surgeons he spoke with, not to continue on to Med School as per their words, “If you put the same time an effort into anything else, you could make just as much, and know your family a lot better”, Luke started his career as a Nutraceutical Sales representative for an company in Maryland. In this role he covered the Virginias and Carolinas educating doctors on the pros and cons of Nutraceuticals vs Pharmaceuticals.
After putting about 140,000 miles on his car in two years, and the birth of his first son, Luke was introduced to an opportunity in NoVA to work as a Human Capital Consultant for one of the leading Payroll and HCM cloud solutions. During this time Luke met with business owners as well as their HR and finance teams, to advised them on how to streamline and automate their current processes, to better utilize their resources, mitigate risk, increase their attractiveness and retention, and positively impacting EBITDA.
Through a natural transition, Luke then moved into the role as a Benefits Consultant for a local Brokerage firm in Fairfax, VA. In his role he helped positively impact company’s bottom line through decreasing their benefits spend, while increasing their retention and recruitment by improving the quality of their offering.
Currently Luke lives in Martinsburg, WV with his wife Madalynn, and two boys, Wesley and Oakley. He has a passion for serving his community and helping those in need. He is also very involved in his local church through volunteering on weekends and leading a men’s group during the week. Though the shortest part of his bio, he believes it to be the most important.
